The days before my journey begins...
I am starting to feel really excited, I can't believe I leave so soon. It seems like I've been talking about leaving for such a long time. I'm a little nervous however, I think I'm ready to go off on this amazing adventure. I look forward to all the interesting people I will meet,(the Thai culture) hikes in the jungle, the food, the epic rock climbing, the surf (of course), snorkeling and just being free! Wahoooo!!

I am so looking forward to seeing your entries and photos. I admire your courage. When I was your age all I could manage in terms of a big adventure was going to the other side of the Cascades to attend college.

We road the Arielleee trail today, the last time I was chasing your butt up and down the mountain, alas I could not keep up. My baby's in thailand. everyone here in my dorm and on the ski team is so sick of me because all i have been doing is talking about you. i love you and am so excited for you. you are going to have so much fun! see you soon. and i am getting a camera for my computer so we can talk and see eachother on skype.

I was working last night(Friday) until 8:00 and while I was pasting some papers together in the staff room I suddenly realized that you were on your way to Thailand!! The mental juxposition stopped me. I couldn't believe that you had grown up so fast and you were heading thousands of miles away from us. That distant day had arrived and off you went. You are such a beautiful person. Enjoy your journey. I'm sure it will be beyond your wildest dreams!!! We will be thinking of you here in hum drum BEND.

I am in Santa Rosa with Larson at Starbucks drinking a coffee that is so sweet i think i am gonna puke! Larson needed to stop here so he could continue to edit his resume. WE left HUmboldt yesterday and camped at a state park last night. It has all been so fun so far. Today we are going to Japantown to eat sushi and then off to Golden Gate park...well, i gotta go. We are enjoying you messages and can picture you racing around on that scooter. After all the talking and planning it's hard to believe that you are now so many miles away from us having this wonderful adventure.
